Established in 1934, Gannondale serves adolescent females experiencing behavioral, emotional and family difficulties, and is located in Erie, Pa. It is owned by the North American Union of the Sisiter of Our Lady of Charity, and licensed by the Department of Public Welfare and funded via per diem rates paid by the placing county, private donations and grants. It has more than 700-acre campus that provides a naturally therapeutic setting and offers both secure and non secure programs. Its professional staff offers group and individual counseling, and provides intensive 24 hour supervision. Its secure-locked facility serves youth, particularly those who have a history of runaway, aggressive behavior and frequent placement failures. Its nonsecure facility provides opportunity for growth while minimizing potential for offending.
