History
First Baptist Church of Norristown was founded in 1832. It is the third oldest church in Norristown. Our original building was located on the corner of Swede & Airy Streets across from the Court House. We moved to our current location at 445 Burnside Ave. in Norristown in 1973. In 1845, the church purchased Treemount Cemetery for $600. The cemetery is located on Sandy St. in Norristown and many Civil War veterans are buried there. It was the first integrated cemetery in the Philadelphia area in the 1800's.
Specialties
Here at FBCN we exist to: Shepherd messy and broken people toward holiness and wholeness through our Savior and Healer. Practically speaking, our vision is to create a culture where we can be real with one another, for all people are messy (there's sin in our life) and broken (something hurts in our spirits and relationships), so we can move toward the holiness and wholeness that is ours in Jesus! The freedom to be real creates space to walk with one another as we together connect deeply with Jesus, our Savior and Healer.
