Crooked Billet Elementary School is rich in history; it is only one of two schools in the nation that is an original battle site from the American Revolution. Every year in May, the school and community commemorate this by holding a fair titled Crooked Billet Day, celebrated even by the mayor and other officials. Crooked Billet has several community service days throughout the year, including blood drives and Relay for Life. In addition, Crooked Billet has been honored with several awards in recent years, most notably being named a "Nationally Recognized Blue Ribbon Elementary School."
