The second World War was still in the heart and soul of this country when a 27-year-old from Brooklyn, NY took a gamble with a buddy and bought a small tavern. Located in a part of the borough he didn't even know, it was in the suburbs named Dyker Heights. Directly across from a golf course and adjacent to The Poly Prep School. After trying various operations, he got rid of his partner and utilized his greatest asset at the time which was his wit. He put up a sign outside the place that was intentionally misspelled stating
