HistoryG&E Painting was founded in 1972 when an ambitious young father took to the roof of his Squirrel Hill home, one badly in need of a new finish. Donning a pair of worn sneakers and dragging a borrowed ladder around his property, Gary Ruben learned his craft the hard way, by trial and error. But he was successful. When his next-door neighbor, petrified of heights, asked for an estimate, shop was open. Gary literally became the neighborhood painter when more street-mates asked for his help. Now in its second generation, G&E continues to serve some of our customers from those early years. But we have also grown from our neighborhood roots to serve the entire Pittsburgh region. Our reputation for consistency and reliability has allowed us to prosper in a business known for unreliability. Anyone can be a painter, they say, but not anyone can be a painter for 40 years. Through our partners, we also subcontract complete build and remodeling solutions, including carpentry, tile, electrical, plumbing and demolition.
