Story of Chapman's Deli It all started in the summer of 1985, in a building on Lancaster Ave. (route 222), in a small town known as Reading in Pennsylvania, that was previously operated by a motorcycle dealer. Married for two years and eight months pregnant, David and Ann decided to become entrepreneurs of Chapman's Deli. Feeling discontented in the current work place and having extensive experience in the food business, David who attended CIA (Culinary Institute of America) and Ann who received her education from Vo-tech decided that this was the best opportunity to fulfill their life long dream. The first years were tough, with a new baby and long hours the deli soon became our home away from home. Determined to persevere and to put our dreams into reality we worked hard and watched our business grow. The menu started out small and consisted of mostly cold items and homemade fresh salads. With the help of a little gas burner we added our own homemade soups to remind the customer what it was like to remember when mom used to make it. As the years passed we expanded our menu and added a grill and a fryer. We continued growing with each year and once again added an oven which we now use to bake our own bread and rolls daily. Using our creativity we also like to concoct some new items which we use as our daily specials for customers who taste change continually. As the years pass we like to make changes with some of our menu items as we see fit. Our daughter, Katie, as most of our customers know her by name, have watched her grow-up with the business into a beautiful young women. She is an important part of our business and has every intention of carrying the family business into the next generation. So if you want a delicious sandwich and the delightful taste of homemade cooked meals come in and visit us any time at 1110 Lancaster Ave, PA 19607 Readingand experience for your self an appealing family atmosphere, we would love to have you!
