At the western edge of Cedar Creek Parkway East, Haines Mill offers visitors a glimpse into the past. The original mill was built around 1760 but had to be rebuilt in 1909 after a fire left then-owner Jacob Haines with nothing but the outside walls. Haines sold it in 1952 and operations ended four years later.
In 1972, Lehigh County Commissioners bought the mill to preserve it as a working grist mill museum. Now administered by the Lehigh County Historical Society, the museum allows visitors to see water-powered rolling equipment in action, just as in the days when the mill was a successful business. The beautifully landscaped park itself stretches 37.5 acres; it is a peaceful escape, offering benches and picnic tables and a place for visitors to walk or fish.
