Eagleville Taekwondo
Eagleville Taekwondo Academy was founded in 1983 by Grand Master Byung Yul Kwak as an addition to his main school. In 1989, Master Giamo ( GM Kwak's senior instructor ) left the US Army and took over the Eagleville dojang. In 1997, Master Giamo developed a curriculum for the Eagleville Taekwondo Academy incorporating Traditional Taekwondo self-defense training and Olympic-style Taekwondo sparring into a comprehensive program. Every student is given a free introductory class to become familiarized with the atmosphere at Eagleville Taekwondo Academy. The introductory lesson covers basic warm-ups, stances, kicking, blocking and punching. Once a person becomes a member of Eagleville Taekwondo Academy, they may attend as many classes per week as they wish ( a minimum of two is suggested ). Each student is encouraged to train to their maximum potential and may choose to stay with the Traditional Program or incorporate Olympic-style sparring into their training. Competition is never mandatory, but it is highly recommended that everyone experience some form of competition ( forms or sparring ) at least once during their martial arts career. Competition sparring may be either the USA Taekwondo ( USAT ) or AAU Olympic-style sparring. Forms training consists of both the Kukkiwon ( World Taekwondo Headquarters ) Tae Guek forms and the International Taekwondo Federation ( ITF ) Chang Hon forms. Hapkido instruction is a separate course taught by Mr. Jerry Weber. He is an International Hapkido Federation certified instructor under Grand Master Bong Soo Han. These classes are for students 12 years old and older. Eagleville Taekwondo Academy also offers a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program taught by Mr. Rich Latta. Mr. Latta is a Black Belt student of Renzo Gracie and runs the Renzo Grazie PA Academy. The training at Eagleville Taekwondo Academy also includes special guest instructors from other Taekwondo schools and other martial arts such as Aikido and ji u- jitsu. There are also specialty classes offered each month such as our Flexibility & Stretching Class, Fitness & Endurance Class and our weekly Competition Sparring Class. These seminars and classes are offered to all students. We encourage parents to become involved in their children's training through the special trainers and coaches programs. Eagleville Taekwondo is affiliated with both USA Taekwondo and the Amateur Athletic Union ( AAU ).
