History

The AVC opened at 17 N. 2nd in September of 2021. This is a satellite location of the American Vegan Society, founded in 1960 by H. Jay Dinshah and headquartered in Malaga, NJ. The AVS makes vegan info and ideas easier to access for both vegans and non-vegans, and hosts numerous vegan-themed events and initiatives throughout the year.

George Washington Carver Community Center

The George Washington Carver Community Center offers a place for groups to meet, and classes to be held. In the summer it has a community swimming pool that is the hot spot of the neighborhood, and a daily free lunch program for kids under 18 years old.
