The Public Employees Retirement System, also known as PERS, is governed by the government of Oregon. It provides a range of retirement benefits to public employees. Established in 1946, the system is responsible for the administration of various activities and trusts. The Public Employees Retirement System s members include state, school district and local government employees. It also administers the Oregon Savings Growth Plan. The system provides medical and dental insurance plans. In addition, the Public Employees Retirement System organizes workshops and counseling.
