Established in 1845, Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is a charitable institution. Based in Eugene, Ore., the society has more than 750,000 active members in 142 countries. It provides a range of services that include food programs, emergency financial assistance, emergency transportation, disaster relief and victim services, rent/mortgage assistance, and low cost housing. The institution also provides shelters for the abused, thrift stores, free pharmacy services, employment services, youth programs, camp programs, special justice programs and job training. Society of Saint Vincent de Paul caters to the weak, poor and abused people of different culture, religion, ethnic origins and social groups.
