History
Tom Steinhoff is the current owner of The Puppy Playhouse. The Puppy Playhouse was founded in 2005, in Sherwood Oregon by Cindy and Roger Bruckart. Cindy built the business from scratch, when doggie daycares were an uncommon occurrence. As the business grew, Cindy's daughter, Katlynn Pendergarst managed the day to day operations of daycare and boarding. Cindy then had time to focus on her passion, training dogs. At one point Cindy expanded the business to include a separate training facility in Newberg. In 2009, Cindy and Katlynn hired Tom Steinhoff who they knew from Project POOCH as a daycare employee. In 2010, after a year of working for and apprenticing under Cindy and Katlynn, Tom bought out the business.
Specialties
At The Puppy Playhouse we are committed to the socialization, enrichment, and well being of your dog. We offer both dog daycare and overnight boarding. It is our mission to provide more than just an indoor dog park. We are smaller, more intimate and much more relaxed than your average dog daycare. We pride ourselves on providing a balanced, structured day for your dog that includes play and rest time. All of our dogs are divided into play groups based on size, temperament, and play style, so as to provide a safe and positive social experience. We never use squirt bottles or air horns to manage our play groups. Instead, we maintain smaller play groups, teach proper social behavior through positive reinforcement, and carefully screen all dogs to ensure that your dog is socializing with safe, appropriate playmates. Boarding with us means that your dog will play in daycare during the day, go for a minimum of three walks throughout the day, receive any medications they require, and rest comfortably in a 50 square foot luxury boarding suite. We have a late night attendant until 9:00 p.m., and the morning staff arrives again at 6:30 a.m. You can bet your dog will be sleeping through the night!
