Josephine County Sheriff is a department of Joseph County and operates from Grants Pass, Ore. The department has a K9 Unit that offers several services, including drug interdiction, tracking, seeking out various suspects and preventing injuries and saving lives. It also has trained dogs to deter violence and frequently respond as a back-up for patrol deputies. The department s crime prevention unit offers neighborhood watch meetings and visiting community and business events. It additionally has several crime prevention handouts free to the public and improves communications between the citizens and the Sheriff s Office. The department s volunteer program provides assistance to the citizens and the deputies in handling many incidents, such as abandoned auto s, found property, littering and nonsufficient fund checks. It geared toward crime prevention through fairs, such as the county fair, kid s care fair, home show and senior fair. The department maintains the marine division in partnership with the Oregon State Marine Board.
