History
As both a licensed professional counselor and a licensed massage therapist, I value the strength of addressing both the mind and the body in healing. I have worked in the mental health field since 2001 in a variety of settings, including psychiatric, drug treatment, and youth corrections. In 2008, I went to massage therapy school to pursue a career in the healing arts, and I came away with the realization of how powerful the blend of mind and body therapies could be for holistic healing. I have on-going training in Hakomi Body-Centered Psychotherapy, as well as an extensive yoga and Thai massage practice which also greatly influences my work. I am passionate about sharing this mind-body approach with my clients.
Specialties
I offer individual counseling sessions to address childhood trauma, PTSD, stress, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and food/weight issues. My approach uses body awareness and mindfulness as a way to enhance traditional talk therapy and include breathing exercises, guided meditation, EMDR, and acupressure in my sessions. I also offer Thai massage sessions for preventative care, stress and pain relief.
