Radiation Oncology The Radiation Oncology department offers a full gamut of clinical services including radioisotope therapy, external beam radiation with conformal capability, and with special emphasis on breast cancer, lung cancer and prostate malignancies. Conformal Radiation Therapy Jane Phillips Cancer Center's Radiation Oncology department offers both three dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) and intensity modulated radiation therapy for cancer treatment. The centerpiece of the Cancer Center's radiation oncology unit is a Varian 2300 EX linear accelerator. The linear accelerator permits the radiation oncologist to precisely calculate the correct dosage of radiation needed to destroy cancer while minimizing damage to healthy organs and/or tissue around the cancer site. With this state-of-the-art equipment, treatment time for the radiation oncology patients is reduced.
