Welcome to the “The Capital of the World,” Circleville, Ohio, and the Ted Lewis Museum Founded in 1977, the museum is dedicated to preserving the legacy of one of the greatest entertainers of all time. Journey through the life of Theodore Leopold Friedman from his childhood - playing clarinet in the Circleville Cadet Band - to his attempts to run away with medicine shows and carnivals to avoid working in his father’s store. Learn how he was crowned “The King of Jazz” and won his battered old top hat in a dice game. Listen to the songs he made famous including “When My Baby Smiles At Me,” “Tiger Rag,” “On the Sunny Side of the Street,” and his signature routine, “Me and My Shadow.” Watch historic film and television appearances and experience his amazing 65-year career in show business.
