Established in 1990, the Summit County Jail is a full-service detention center. It has a capacity of more than 670 inmates. The jail offers a range of inmate intake, supervision, security, medical, behavioral health care and food services. The Summit County Jail is a part of corrections division of Summit County Sheriff's Office, which strives to maintain a peaceful and safe environment, safeguards individual rights and provides law enforcement services. The sheriff s office also maintains an operations division that offers investigation, communication and community policing solutions. Summit County Sheriff's Office supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an educational program that helps to prevent the usage of illegal drugs. The sheriff s office is governed by County of Summit in Ohio.
