ABOUT SOCIL SOCIL, a Center for Independent Living, is a consumer controlled, cross disability, non-residential program providing services to Fairfield and Hocking Counties. It is funded in part by the US Department of Education under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. SOCIL promotes a philosophy of self-determination, peer support, self-help and self-advocacy, system advocacy, and equal access to society. SOCIL believes that people with disabilities have the right to choices and opportunities in society that support and maximize their empowerment, inclusion, leadership, independence and full participation in community life. SOCIL offers a wide variety of services, but four are essential in the efforts of people with disabilities to live independently. For additional services that SOCIL provides, please see our Services page on this website.
