Established in 1834, Ohio State University Medical Center is one of the largest academic medical centers in the United States. Located in Columbus, Ohio, the medical center comprises more than five hospitals that offer a wide range of health care services, including an arthritis center; dental clinics; diabetes; radiology; women s health; neurology; wound care; and cancer diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, the medical center provides assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with Alzheimer's disease, dementia and other related memory disorders. Ohio State University Medical Center s emergency department offers 24-hour services and Level-1 trauma care for major trauma, acute cardiac conditions and burns. Specialized facilities located in the emergency department include trauma resuscitation suites, CT scanner, hyperbaric medicine chamber, and helicopters for advanced emergency care and rapid aeromedical transport to the hospital. The medical center participates in several insurance plans, including Accountable Health Plan of Ohio, First Health Network, Medicaid and Medicare, and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
