The Maple Heights Adult Activities Center is a part of the Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. The parent organization operates various schools and early childhood and adult activities centers. It offers various in-home early intervention programs for children and their families. The Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities provides speech-language, occupational and physical therapies. Established in 1967, the parent organization also offers psychological, supported living, rehabilitation engineering, crisis intervention and respite care services. Its adult services provide assistance with job placement and community awareness. The Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities maintains more than 55 community group homes that serve over 400 residents.
