Legend of Lutterbein Lutterbein Lumber began in 1924 when Ben and Alma Lutterbein purchased a business that manufactured concrete blocks and burial vaults. Lumber and construction became the main thrust of the business by the 1930's The company continued to grow throughout the forties, fifties, and sixties. In the early 1970's the corporation changed its name to Building Concepts, Inc with Lutterbein Lumber Company being a division of that corporation. In 1979 Cardinal Truss and Components was added to the Corporation. Cardinal is based in Columbus, Ohio and furnishes roof and floor trusses and other components to lumber yards and builders in the central Ohio area. A new 10, 000 square foot retail sales facility was added to Lutterbein Lumber in 1980. The nineties brought many new and exciting challenges including the development of exporting homes to Japan. Two new warehouses were added, one in 1999 and one in 2001 to help with efficiency. In 2000 and 2001 two new divisions were added to Building Concepts, Inc They are Cover-All Indiana, a seller of pre-engineered fabric covered steel buildings and Lutterbein Properties, a real estate management company.
