The Lorain Historical Society engages members of the community and our visitors in our shared and diverse history through preservation, education, collaborations, and exciting programming for all ages, so that we learn from the past, develop civic pride, and transform the future. The Carnegie Center is a former Carnegie Library built in 1903 that has been converted into a museum and reopened in 2015. The building holds exhibits telling the history of the City of Lorain, Children's History Room, Reference Room for researchers, museum store featuring books and many unique Lorain themed items for sale, community rental space, and our administrative offices. The building is open for tours and museum store shoppers Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm. Our administrative office is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 3 pm. Researchers should call ahead to make an appointment. Welcome!
