LifeCenter Organ Donor Network, "A Donate Life Organization, " encourages and coordinates the donation of human organs and tissues for transplantation. In 1981 LifeCenter began operating as an independent, not-for-profit organ procurement organization ( OPO ). LifeCenter is accredited by the Association for Organ Procurement Organizations ( AOPO ) and has been approved and designated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ( CMS ) as the primary OPO serving eight counties in Southwestern Ohio, six counties in Northern Kentucky and two counties in Southeastern Indiana. LifeCenter is an institutional member of the United Network for Organ Sharing ( UNOS ) and follows all the guidelines for organ sharing. The population of LifeCenter's service area is about two million people. Within this area there are 30 hospitals that LifeCenter works with to faciliate and coordinate organ and tissue donation. The clinical staff provides 24-hour service for referrals, case management, recovery and organ placement. Our education staff provides programs for schools, civic and community groups, religious institutions and healthcare professionals.
