Established in 1938, Catholic Charities is a nonprofit organization that offers a range of social welfare services. The organization operates more than 25 offices and programs to serve over 10 counties within the Diocese of Harrisburg. Its programs focus on counseling, long-term substance abuse treatment, homeless family shelter, and personal and maternity care. Catholic Charities also provides employment, family-based mental health, and immigration and refugee services. The organization offers English as a Second Language, refugee resettlement, and adoption and foster care programs. In addition, it operates several residential treatment facilities that include Lourdeshouse, Hope House, Paradise School and Evergreen House.
