As a psychologist, I specialize in clinical rehabilitation psychology. One area of my clinical focus is patients who have experienced a concussion. I have developed a specialized Concussion Clinic to address specific concerns and provide focused interventions for this population. My goal is to improve patient education and expectation and enhance their positive recovery trajectory post-concussion. I work closely with related rehabilitation disciplines to implement a team-based approach and improve patient experience and access to care. I also specialize in topics of sexuality and sexual functioning, particularly in rehabilitation populations. This often presents to a patient and-or their partners as the sexual impact of a medical condition, commonly spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury, cancer, amputation or musculoskeletal condition. Sexuality plays an important role in identity and relationships for many patients and can be vital to their experience of recovery, although sexuality is often less addressed during the rehabilitation process. I seek to advocate patient and provider discussion and management of this domain in order to achieve comprehensive rehabilitation outcomes. Lastly, I work with patients on the inpatient rehabilitation service post-stroke. This service provides evaluation and treatment for cognition and mood as well as adjustment to life changes post-stroke. I meet with the patient's family or caregivers to educate and support, so that they may best assist their loved ones in recover provide a variety of assessment and intervention services. Some are tailored to specific rehabilitation populations so that patients can expect specialized services that are specifically for their goals. Patients may undergo cognitive evaluation, which examines the performance of brain functions such as memory or attention, among other domains.
