The Belmont County Board serves people with developmental disabilities and mental retardation issues. It assists in the development of self-determination skills. The board works in partnership with various civic organizations, agencies, families and individuals. It offers work skill development, service coordination, employment assistance, vocational training, and occupational, physical and speech therapy services for people above the age of 22. The Belmont County Board also provides 24-hour crisis intervention services. It works with various organizations, such as Eastern Ohio Housing Development Corporation and Sunrise Acres Ranch. The board administers the Integrated Preschool program, which assists children with developmental disabilities between the ages 3 and 5. It employs a work force of more than 90 people. The Belmont County Board manages the Service and Support Administration Department, which maintains the waiting list for residential services and informs individuals annually of their status on that list. In addition, it publishes The Eagle's Nest, which is a newsletter that provides information related to health care solutions.
