eauVerre Riordan Studios is the oldest continuously operating stained glass studio in the United States, established in 1838. You can refer to the history tab for more on that! Our glass, acquired from around the world, is internally colored with variegated shades of the same or different hues. This enables our artists to substitute random tonal gradations, lines, textures and densities inherent in the material itself to bring flowers, leaves, mountains or virtually any subject matter to life. BeauVerre Riordan Studios paints using polychromatic glass, as an artist does with pigments, creating limitless pictorial possibilities. This helps preserve the vital association of fine art glass windows to contemporary architecture. Our palette includes literally thousands of different types and colors of glass, which during the firing process can be given dramatic textures and shapes - all achieved through stages of manipulations while in a molten state. The use of "plating", the addition of one or more layers of glass to attain greater depth of colors and three dimensional hues, enables our artists to depict distant forms more convincingly. It is unusual today for a studio to incorporate this method of work.
