AK Tube is a manufacturer of electric resistance welded mechanical tubing. It offers an extensive selection of hot rolled, aluminized, galvanized, galvanneal, galvalume, stainless steel and zinc-nickel tubing. Additionally, AK Tube offers specialized cutting and end finishing, including swedging and expansion, hole punching and notching. The company was formed in 1976 as Alpha Tube, in Holland, Ohio. In 1985, Sudbury Holdings purchased controlling interest of Alpha Tube and in 1990 acquired Donovan Slitting. Its first tube was manufactured in 1977. With the purchase of Motor City Tube in 1983, the company was at a total of three tube mills. In 1997 a 330,000 square foot facility was opened in Walbridge, Ohio. In 2001, AK Steel Corporation purchased Alpha Tube and changed name to AK Tube, a subsidiary of AK Steel Corporation.
