Founded in 1965, the Adult Parole Authority, also known as APA, is one of the state s divisions that is responsible for the release and supervision of adult felony inmates returning to local communities from prison. Located in Youngstown, Ohio, the division also partners with community stakeholders and law enforcement agencies to preserve public safety. The Adult Parole Authority supervises more than 34,000 offenders and assists them to return to law abiding citizenship. In addition, the division maintains a field services section that rewards, encourages and promotes positive behavior. The Adult Parole Authority has a staff of over 1,100 employees. The division is a part of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, which provides educational and employment-related services.
