Starting with one employee in 1972, the Minot Housing Authority has grown to more than 25 employees. It owns and manages several housing units that are offered through a low-rent public housing program. The authority manages Henry Towers, which includes over 80 apartments for senior citizens and individuals with disabilities. It serves over 800 families through the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program, wherein the authority pays landlords the difference between the tenant's portion of the rent and the actual contract rent. The authority also administers the Family Self-Sufficiency program, which provides families receiving rental assistance opportunities to achieve long-term economic independence and self-sufficiency. In addition, its elderly and disabled service coordinator program includes referral, case management, liaison monitoring and educational services. The Minot Housing Authority is located in Minot, N.D.
