Warrenton is a town in Warren County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 811 at the 2000 census. Founded in 1779, it is the county seat of Warren County. It is home to one of the campuses of Vance-Granville Community College.
Warrenton is also the birthplace of former North Carolina U.S. Senator Josiah Bailey, Georgia U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss, Braxton Bragg and Thomas Bragg.
As of the census of 2000, there were 811 people, 402 households, and 221 families residing in the town. The population density was 921.1 people per square mile (355.8/km²). There were 472 housing units at an average density of 536.1 per square mile (207.1/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 60.42% White, 36.25% African American, 1.23% Native American, 0.12% Asian, 0.62% from other races, and 1.36% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.86% of the population.
