The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program is one of the largest nutritional programs in the United States for low-income and pregnant women and children. The program operates under the government of the city of Raleigh, N.C. It is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture. The Women, Infants and Children program provides financial assistance services for pregnant women, infants and children below the age of 5. The program is administered by the Wake County Human Services, which is a county department that offers adoption, foster care and child support enforcement services. The department provides consulting services for individuals with hearing impairments. In addition, it offers protection and counseling services for victims of sexual abuse.
