For Terri Smith, MD, a love of medicine runs in the family. Her mother and grandmother were nurses, so Dr. Smith felt called at a young age to become an internist and pediatrician. Her philosophy of care is to listen to patients and find out how social conditions in their environment influence their health. She also sees practicing medicine as a team effort between her and her patient. Dr. Smith and her husband, Clay, and two children, Grace and Cooper, live in a nearly-century-old home in downtown Concord. She spends her free time with friends and family, being active with the youth in her church and on home renovation and restoration projects.
