What is Tar River Land Conservancy Tar River Land Conservancy is a grassroots nonprofit organization that permanently protects land for drinking water, wildlife, farming, forestry, recreation and tourism. We are one of 24 land trusts working in local communities across North Carolina to protect these resources, which are critical to our rural economies, health and quality of life. Our service area includes Person, Granville, Vance, Franklin Warren, Halifax, Nash and Edgecombe Counties. This geographic area encompasses all of the Upper Tar River Basin and parts of Roanoke and Neuse River Basins
