History
Like most great ideas, it started out over a case of Tecate and notes scribbled on a bar napkin. The next morning I woke up in a Mayan village in Carrillo Puerto, in a strangers kitchen at a truck-stop. The lady was kind enough to show me her recipies and her culinary secrets. I took what I learned from that trip and applied it our current taqueria. Disclaimer: This story is only slightly embellished, however the history is based on actual events. Some details have been omitted in accordance with the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo, 1845-1848 (The Annexation of Texas after the Mexican-American War).
Specialties
Taqueria El Azteca, founded in October, 2000 was originally designed for Hispanic patrons. After the gringos caught on to our rustic style of cooking, We had to relocate to a more central location (Quaker Village). Every meal comes with handmade tortillas. If you come during the day, you'll see the lady pounding out each tortilla, one by one. Although our food is like my grandma's, our interior is modern and casual. Some of our best sellers are: Molcajete, Enchiladas de Mole, Tacos, Caldo de Pollo and Fajitas. We have a beautiful curved granite bar with a high-definition tv for you to watch your favorite sports game or whatever might be on at the time. If you want to change the channel, we keep the remote my the kitchen window. If we're busy, don't ask us to change the channel...you know where the remote is. Our staff is curtious and efficient. You will always be greeted with a smile and perhaps a handshake. We look forward to your visit. Alexei Moreno, Manager
