Founded in 1984, the Rowan County's Emergency Medical Service Division provides a range of paramedic solutions to general public. It serves the residents of Rowan County in North Carolina. The division operates more than five stations throughout the county. It coordinates the Advanced Life Support program in cooperation with the Rowan Regional Medical Center. The division utilizes a standardized application of treatment guidelines and protocols approved by the State of North Carolina for patient care. It maintains air medical helicopters from regional trauma centers, including the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and the Carolinas Medical Center. The division has a staff of over 70 full- and part-time paramedics and emergency medical technicians. It is licensed by the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services. The Rowan County's Emergency Medical Service Division is a part of the Emergency Services Department, which also operates fire, emergency management and homeland security divisions.
