PEAR works to reduce pet overpopulation, keep animals out of shelters, and improve quality of life for pets and pet owners in need. A 501(c)3 nonprofit, PEAR was founded in 2016 with the goal to alleviate the burden of North & South Carolina's overcrowded shelters and change the future for animals in this community and beyond. Our officers, all longtime animal rescue volunteers, looked at the reasons why animals end up in shelters and designed programs to tackle these issues. Our services include pet adoption, free or low-cost spay/neuter for low-income pet owners, intervention programs that keep animals in their homes, bilingual community outreach and youth programs that inspire compassion and accountability for animals from an early age.
