The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics was established in 1980, and is a high school that provides a specialized curriculum in science and mathematics, and technology education. The school, located in Durham, N.C., serves students in grades 11 and 12. The school s curriculum includes various disciplines, such as English, foreign languages, history and social sciences, mathematics, humanities and computer science. It also offers subjects, such as biology, chemistry and physics, and advanced placement programs and elective courses. The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics also offers courses in painting, digital imaging and advanced mechanical drawing. Additionally, the school offers various extracurricular activities, including prom, national music competitions, Frisbee tossing and hall events. It also has computer labs and offers student clubs and organizations.
