History
If someone had told me 20 years ago that I would be practicing law in my middle age years, often handling family law matters, I would have probably said some things to them that wouldn't pass Yelp's decency standards here. So, it is fair to say that I came to the law reluctantly at first. However, since I started my own practice almost a decade ago, I couldn't be happier! What has truly been a blessing for me is the stalwart and steadfast assistance I have had these past 10 years of Ms. S. Denice DeWerth, an NC Licensed Paralegal. Even though she is an independent contractor, and therefore free to take on whatever assignments she wants from any other area attorneys, she has been with me through tough times and smooth ones. She is truly priceless! As for me, my clients know that I may not crank out a Complaint lickety-split. However, my clients also know that what does finally get cranked out is pretty darn thorough and I am always open to after hours calls, emails, and text messages.
Specialties
I work predominantly with clients of modest means, as I firmly believe that all people should have access to quality legal services. My primary areas of practice include family law (child custody, child support, spousal support, Equitable Distribution, divorce), criminal defense (traffic, misdemeanor drug possession, misdemeanor assault/battery, communicating threats), NC Driver's License restoration, foreclosure defense, contract disputes, consumer debt defense, real property (commercial & residential), and Social Security Disability.
