In grade school, my favorite subject was always science. Then, as a chemistry major at Carolina, I developed a passion for extracurricular activities that focused on community service. Medicine is a perfect marriage between service and science. In family medicine, I love the fact that I can follow my patients from "womb to tomb." I particularly have an interest in sports medicine. I believe that the best family doctors are great listeners and communicators. Not only is it worthwhile to sit with my patients and hear their stories, but it is equally important to spend time educating them about their bodies and health conditions. I emphasize shared decision-making between my patients and myself. Careful listening, good conversation and patient education are the keys to delivering great care. Outside of work, I watch and play a lot of basketball - my jump shot is a work in progress. I also collect sneakers, am a total Star Trek geek, and follow the Tar Heels and Carolina alums in all sports. When other people aren't watching, I love dancing to BTS videos with my two young daughters.
