When I was in college, I was seeking a career that would allow me to use my aptitude for science and my interest in social action. At the time, family medicine was the lead reform movement within medicine. I applied to medical school with the clear intention to train as a family physician, and I have never regretted my choice. Navigating our complex health care system is very difficult-even for physicians and their families. I try to provide guidance to my patients, to help them choose the right type and amount of care that will achieve their health goals. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, daughters and grandchildren. I also enjoy visiting Washington DC, New York City and the national parks in the western United States.
