Headquartered in Pembroke, N.C., Lumbee Regional Development Association offers a wide range of services for the Lumbee Indian communities. Established in 1968, the association works toward improving the services for members of the Lumbee Tribe. The association offers a variety of services through its various departments. Its child services department offers various programs, such as day care, head start, and early start. Its other departments include planning and resource development, business, employment and education, public information, and housing. The staff and board members of the association have experience in human services, governmental services, operations of grant-funded programs, and Indian affairs. The association is recognized by the federal government, State of North Carolina, and various foundations, funding entities, and other Indian tribes.
