I was exposed to medicine early in life with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training during Boy Scout Camp. My last year on staff there, a scoutmaster suffered a cardiac arrest. We were able to get his heart restarted as emergency medical services (EMS) arrived and I realized at that point that this was my calling. Working in the emergency room and intensive care unit (ICU), I have come to realize that we are the safety nets for the community and the hospital. When people come for help, or other providers call for help, we as providers need to offer everything we can. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and three kids. I also enjoy spending time in my barn doing woodworking and auto repair.
