Central Elementary School aims to develop students as individual lifelong learners through the use of technology, critical thinking and problem solving strategies, cultural arts and cognitive disciplines. It enrolls more than 300 students in prekindergarten through five. Its curriculum includes English language, science, foreign language, social studies, mathematics, performing and visual arts, and music. The school offers special education instructional programs for students with disabilities. It also provides art classes, weekly library classes and access to media center, computer-based program in kindergarten and a reading recovery program for first-grade students needing special support in reading. The school additionally offers regular guidance and counseling services, and meal and transportation services. It is located in Barco, N.C.
