Ever since I was a child, I was drawn to a career in healthcare. Initially I wanted to become a counselor, but part way through my master's degree program, I realized I wanted a more hands-on field of medicine. I looked into many different areas and felt a spark when I was given the opportunity to shadow a physician assistant, also called a PA. I have a doctoral-level PA degree, which is uncommon among PAs and advanced practice providers. \n My approach to healthcare emphasizes prevention. I truly believe that the vast majority of medical ailments could be reversed or even avoided with a healthy lifestyle. I try to avoid prescription medications when possible and instead focus on lifestyle modifications, diet, exercise and natural remedies for a number of diagnoses. \n When prescription medications are needed, I choose the best data-driven options and get plenty of input from my patients. We're a team. \n I love spending time with my family and enjoy woodworking, reading, learning new skills, cooking and watching sports. The Florida Gators, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Rays, Tampa Bay Lightning and Boston Celtics are my favorite teams. I have another hobby that's pretty unusual - competitive axe throwing. In fact, I'm a two-time local league champion in Durham.
