Hatteras Yachts produced its first sport-fishing yacht on March 22, 1960. Christened the Knit Wits, the company s first boat was one of the first fiberglass motor yachts and the precursor to its cruising yacht line. The company produces all of its boats at its 95-acre facility in New Bern, N.C., which opened in 1997.
