I became a Family Nurse Practitioner because working as a nurse for seven years in the medical intermediate unit and cardiac ICU, I saw the need for providers in primary care in eastern North Carolina. I wanted to help reduce hospital admissions through preventive care and education. My philosophy of care is patient centered with the foundation built on the patient-provider relationship. I feel that creating a bond and getting to know my patients is key for holistically treating them. This allows me to be aware of barriers to compliance and work with the patient to find a care plan that matches their beliefs and lifestyle. I am married with one son. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, going to church, traveling and gardening.
