The Young Adult Institute (YAI) was established in 1957. It's goal is to create opportunities for people with learning disabilities and to provide resources to their families. They encourage independence and inclusion, giving it's members the chance to acquire employment where their skills are valued. There are a total of 450 programs available for their more than 200,000 members. The YAI also hopes to create a level of awareness for those who have disabilities, so that they too can be granted the same level of equality as others.
