Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, founded in 1963, is a nonprofit basic life support provider that offers emergency medical services to the residents of Yorktown, N.Y. It maintains a more than 2,000-square-foot facility that houses an office, ambulance garage, emergency dispatch station, and rest, meeting and storage rooms. The service provider s ambulances are staffed with voluntary emergency medical technicians who are trained in the use of defibrillators. It offers cardiopulmonary resuscitation classes for the public, as well as professional rescuers. Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps also sponsors community blood drives partnership with Hudson Valley Blood Services, and offers free-of-charge cares, walkers, crutches and wheelchairs for community residents. Additionally, its youth group performs medical standby services for fairs, carnivals and sporting events.
