Xemu Records is an independent record label based in New York City, founded in 1990 by Cevin Soling. Originally established as a platform for Soling's music and production ventures, the label has evolved into a home for emerging bands in the psychedelic and independent music scenes. With a nod to underground cult movements of the past, Xemu Records has gained international recognition through its compilation album "When Pigs Fly" in 2002, featuring popular songs recorded by unlikely artists.
After a fortuitous encounter with bassist Steve Kille of Dead Meadow in 2002, the label shifted its focus to reissuing Dead Meadow's back catalog, leading to a successful line of unreleased albums and reissues. Since then, Xemu Records has been dedicated to releasing a roster of full-time artists in the psych-alternative music genre. Additionally, the label has ventured into the world of literature with the Rumpleville Chronicles, a series of children's books for grown-ups.
